Character Rules

---> No characters are allowed from the show.

---> Please follow the given template correctly when applying for your charcter. Anyone who does not follow this template will not be approved.

---> If you no longer want a character please notify an Admin so they can put it in the Archives. If not it will be deleted over time but it wont be straight away.

---> When deciding the age of your character keep the rank in mind. The likliness of there being a 25 year old recruit is not likely. Or there being a 10 year old expert bender.

---> If you decide to make a criminal character, know that you will have to deal with the laws and reprocutions of being a criminal. Also know that if another character decides to kill your character for stealing something, if you cant defend yourself they can and possibly will kill you.

Additional Information – Advanced Rules

---> First off the ranking system of Characters:
Every character can start off at a Civlian ranking but it is not required. Being a civilian will mean you are still deciding on which route you wish to take, you want to stay a common civilian, or you want to furthen your characters path and deepen their history.

After civilian, on the benders side, it is Recruit. The Recruits abilities are weak and the person is learning to bend their element and can not do much with the element. However the abilities of the Recruit will increase the closer it comes to ranking to Soldier.

Then follows Soldier. The ranking of the Soldier is someone who is in the military usually but does not have to be. The abilites of the Soldier covers all basics of the element but could use some small improvements here and there on their bending.

Captain is next. The Captain rank is someone who is completely skilled in their element. They know their element frontwards, backwards, left and right. When you are a Captain you can apply for training in the advanced version of your element. Varying on which element you choose decides which advanced element you can begin training in. For more information on training on the elements it is further down in the rules.

After Captain comes General. General rank is not much different from the Captain ranking. If one is approved for Advanced training and if they trained enough, by the time they are General they should know at least the minor basics of the advanced elements and can continue their training when a General. Also when General you can ask your Lord/King for a team. A general can have a team of at the most 5 people who are whatever rank the General pleases to have of the Nation. And if also allowed for teams you must have permission from your lord/king and the one of another nation to recruit their benders. If not notified by the other nations it will be considered kidnapping.

*Note that any military references in the ranking system is for both in the Military and for the non Military characters.

The next 2 ranks are for 8 people only. The two are Lord and Avatar. The lord rank is only accquiered by by one being a lord/king of a country and that requires approval by a mod and the postion must be open. Also in the Lord/King position the privelage of learning the Advanced II version of the characters element. The description of that is in the Element section below.The Avatar rank is open for 4 people, same as the Lord/King postion. The Avatar Rank is above all other ranks because of their ability to use all four elements and the advanced I of the element of the nation they are from. For example if you are the Air nation Avatar, then you can do the Advanced I of the Air element. Lords/kings and Avatars are allowed to have only 1 minor weapon but can not have any more than that. For example, the air bending staff for Air benders or a Tanto etc.

---> The opposite side of the ranking scale is for non benders. Just like on the bender side you can start at civilian but you may also start at the Novice rank of the non bender side. On the non bender side it is for people who do not bend obviously. It is for the characters like Sokka who use swords and other weapons to fight with.

First is Novice. Novice is a rank where you can have 2 weapons and are relatively skilled at them. You are a good weapon user for your rank but it is unlikely for you to win against someone eat least 2 ranks higher than you are. Someone at this rank fighting a bender at Recruit rank will also stand a good chance in fighting and they both have an equal shot of winning. Also, if you choose this side you can start carrying around a small pack of throwing knives (about ten knives at most) that increases in amount and strength with ranking.

Then follows Adept. Adept is the same as soldier on the bender side of the scale. Somone who is adept can have 2 of the same weapon and a third of a different type of weapon. At Adept you can fight somone who is a soldier and below with a good chance of winning (*Note when I say you can fight someone who is equal to your rank I don’t mean you can only fight those people. You can fight whoever you want,  we are just noting the survival rate). Also your knive pack is increased by 10.

After Adept is Journeyman. Journeyman is equal to Captain and you can have 3 of 2 types of weapons at the most. The journeyman knive count is increased by 5 to a total of 25. Also a Journeyman can have as many weapons as they want at the rank of Novice and lower, which is nothing.

The next rank is equal to General and is Expert. An expert is allowed to have 3 of 3 types of weapons but can have as many weapons as the character wants at the rank of Adept and lower. The throwing knive count is increased by 5 and is the last amount received bringing the total to 30. At this rank you may begin searching for a prodige to begin teaching under the Authority of their contries leader.

The last rank is Master and is equal to a lord or a king. At this rank the character is considered to be the best of the best at what weapons they use and can start training other people in their weapons at any rank. They may even assemble a team to do missions or be a team specifically for their lord or king. The students of that team may be any rank and are joining at their own risk.

---> How you rank is very simple but can be difficult. From the rank of Novice or Recruit to Adept and Soldier you must complete a written exam made up by the Lord/king. The next rank from Soldier and Adept to Captain and Journeyman is going to be a physical test made up by the Lord/king but does not have to require physcial fighting but it is supposed to test the mind and strategic abilities. The next ranking from there onwards is whatever the Lord/king pleases but they cannot just give them the rank. A test is required.

---> Advanced Elements. The advanced elements were created to make the RPing more elaborate with the different versions of the same elements. The Advanced elements are for skilled RPers only and can be earned by applying.

**Also note, before getting the Advancement II, you must know Advancement I.

The Fire advanced elements are:
1 –  Lightning; Lightning can only be obtained by few people. It is rare for many people to be able to do this. Lightning is made my combing the positive and negative energies within you and letting them flow out of you into lightning. Do not control lightning. You are not the control in it and you are simply its humble guide. Both Lava and Lightning can hurt yourself so use both with Caution.
2 –Lava; lava can be trained in by watching the water benders and how they move water but can only be performed when lava is near. You CANNOT make lava out of thin air.

The Water advanced elements are:
1 – Plants; Plant bending is used in a few ways. When you plant bend your character can take the water out of the plants and use it. For example out of, trees, grass, flowers, etc. With plants that are mostly water like sea weed, vines, and other bendable water sources you can control them for your characters advantage. You CANNOT plant bend a tree to your own will like you can with vines.
2 – Blood; Blood bending is used to control other people. If you blood bend it can only be done on the full moon of every month. When you blood bend someone you can only control people of the same rank and lower. However someone of the same rank could possibly escape from the blood bending with enough strength. After a few or a post or two of being in it you can escape if you are the same rank. If you are a higher rank then it is vary likely for them to escape almost instantly but it will affect them for at least one post if they are 1 rank above, if more than 1 then it is not likely.

***The Healing ability is given to all natural born water benders but MUST be stated in the application to obtain the ability. If not stated and you use it, you will be asked to not use it for you do not know the technique.

The Earth advanced elements are:
1 – Metal; Metal bending is a very hard object to bend. Since metal is formed from pieces of Earth, it is hard to sense the Earth in it and then bend those pieces around it. To master Metal bending you must be able to know where Earth is in everything. To have the ability to sense even the smallest amount of Earth in metal is a tough task. Metal must be near and must make skin contact to bend it.
2 – Crystal; Crystal bending is the ability to manipulate a stronger version of earth. Crystal is a transparent form of solid rock, which is two times harder than earth, it can block any attack from any element equal to its rank, and can form sharp pointed objects able to do damage to anything equal to its rank. However the crystal must be on the person, and cannot be bended from anywhere like normal earth can. Most crystal benders will have a small amount of crystal son them, that they use to reshape, resize and use in bending.

**The ability to bend sand comes naturally for all Earth benders. The only rule is that you cannot turn regular Earth into sand, or sand into regular Earth.

The Air advanced elements are:
1 – Sound; When an air bender produces sound, they send out with a gust of wind that has a high pitched noise in it. Its similar to a white noise while at the same time it is something that is more painful. The noise fills your ear drums to the point of where you are on your knees in pain. Its more of an annoying pain that is painful. It is possible to escape it though. The suppression of hearing tends to work and if you are a higher rank than the person it wont be as painful just annoying. For a higher rank its not strong enough to the point of being on your knees, just where you cannot hear anything because of the sound. Another technique that is able to be learned by Sound benders is where you produce enough noise by things such as the clanging of metal and then you can bend those sounds to magnify it.
2 – Void; When a air user learns Void what ability they have is basically like taking a section of space large enough to cover a 3 meter radius from the user. Everyone caught in the area suffer from the affects including the user. What happens is you cannot breath and the effects only last for 2 posts for the user. After the second post the area is back to normal but everyone suffers from the side effects. The side affects include light headedness, hard of hearing, hard of seeing, dizziness, and you just lost your breath for a certain amount of time and you just started breathing again. And do remember that since the user is the highest rank he/she is suffereing from all the effects but compared to someone that is a low rank they suffered more by being so small compared to a grown man or woman. And varying on what the user does while in the void a low enough ranked person can be killed. Coming out of the void they could be vary close to death.

How to train new items, pets, or advanced versions of elements:

-->To train new items, you may either purchase them with gold or type out your character training that item. To train an item you must post a training topic with the required word count for that item.

Recruit/Novice: 200
Soldier/Adept: 400
Captain/Journeyman: 600
General/Expert: 1150
Lord/Avatar/Master: 1600

**Those numbers also apply for animal training.

***Also, when you have completed training, post a link to the training onto the submission for your weapon/technique/pet and then it will be moved into the approved area.

---> To obtain an advanced element you can only train it, not purchase it with gold. The word count for training the advanced elements are listed below.

Advanced I: 3250
Advanced II: 6500

*If you wish to train with a playable character IC master for the Advanced elements, the word count is combined, the person MUST know the element already, and the word count is increased by 500*

---> For some Avatars, they decide to only have mastered maybe one or two of the four elements. To train in those elements, the Avatar must do just a couple of things:

1. The person must have a Master of the element (the person must be of General Rank or higher).

2. They must type, between the student and master, a total of 6,000 words combined. The student however, must post a minimum of 3,000 words.

3. This is a small note, keep time involved in the topic. Not many people will simply fully learn the element in a couple of months like Aang.
